William Donald Stone, M.D., D.D.S., age 88, of Atlanta, Georgia passed away February 7, 2010. He was born October 11, 1921 in Portsmouth, VA. Raised in Raleigh, NC he attended UNC at Chapel Hill, NC where he was a star swimmer, and received his D.D.S. and M.D. from Emory University in Atlanta. Dr. Stone, a WW II Naval Veteran, was the only man in Atlanta to practice both medicine and dentistry during the 60's, 70's and 80's before he retired to his home on Lake Altoona in Woodstock, GA. He was one of the founding members and also past president of the Civil War Round Table in Atlanta. Besides being a physician and dentist his hobbies included collecting war memorabilia, artwork, antique automobiles, stamps and coins. He also enjoyed organic gardening, welding, world travel, and woodworking. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Darlene Stone Moulder, and two granddaughters, Bryn and Caroline Moulder, his parents John and Myra Stone, as well as his beloved grandmother, Mama Sasser and brothers, Albert Stone, Ed Stone and Fleming Stone and his son in law Johnny Dalton Crowe. He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Gloria Claus Stone and his sister, Myra Ruth Robison of Lubbock, TX. His surviving children are Charlene Stone Crowe of Lakewood, CO, Marlene Stone Cherry (John) of Atlanta, GA, and Arlene Stone Crump (Russell) of Athens, GA, and step children Craig Cline of Marietta, GA, Courtney Cline (Liz) of Chapel Hill, NC, and Carol Cline Lacy (Douglas) of Atlanta, GA, and son in law Stuart Moulder of Atlanta, GA, and 14 surviving grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
